  • Looking for some shark action? We know the best time to have the best chance to see those sharks in action!
  • Explore the majestic southern Red Sea during the warm summer months of May to August with our much anticipated Southern Sharks itinerary offering flexibility and focus for 'action' dives.
  • These months are best-known for the variety of sharks visiting some of the remote offshore reefs.
  • Our guides select the best possible action sites to visit based on their immense local knowledge and on insider-data on recent activity including a variety of Red Sea sharks, dolphins
  • Some of the sites we might visit are St Johns, Rocky, Daedalus and Elphinstone. However, please remember that the focus of this trip is not about where we go but about what we want to see...sharks! And as always it's subject to weather conditions.
  • As you may be visiting some of the remote offshore Red Sea reef systems many of these may have deep drop offs and be exposed to strong currents so be prepared to spend some time waiting 'in the blue' or in the shallows looking for those unmistakable shapes and shadows.
  • There are no guarantees in life but one thing is for sure, this itinerary will give you the best chance of close encounters of the 'sharky' kind.

  • Daedalus is a huge tear-drop shaped reef rises from the sea bed in the middle of the Red Sea, 80km offshore and more than 300km south of Hurghada. Easily recognised by its zebra-striped lighthouse, this reef offers some of the most amazing dives in the Red Sea.
  • The sheer walls are covered in over-grown hard coral formations and a variety of reef fish. Napoleon wrasses and turtles are often cruising by, but make sure you keep your eyes open on the blue!
  • Daedalus is one of those places where anything can happen... oceanic white tip, grey reef and thresher sharks are often sighted, but Daedalus is most famous for its scalloped hammerhead sharks which can often be seen in large schools out in the blue during the summer months.
  • The sheer size of this reef means that you can do several dives here and never get bored!

  • The island of Zabargad is an amazing dive spot. It is characterised by an enormous mountain reaching out of the water, surrounded by a lagoon and circling reef. There are a couple of wrecks and a great variety of corals and reef fish.

Rocky Island

  • Rocky Island hosts a fringing reef that circles the entire perimeter of the island, dropping steeply to astonishing depths. Keep your eyes on the blue for life but take care as there can be strong currents.

St. Johns

  • Located on the Tropic of Cancer, this chain of reefs boast stunning dive sites, most of which are very close to each other allowing you to move quickly and easily from one place to another. This adds a lot of variety to your dives; drop-offs, tunnels and stunning hard-coral formations.
  • The reef formation is not the only thing that will stun you at St John's; the marine life and colours of the soft corals are some of the best in the Red Sea. With any luck, dolphins or pelagics will join you on your dives, placing St John's forever in your heart.

The highlight on the dives

Shark is (oceanic white tip, gray reef shark, white tip reef shark, thresher, hammerhead, whale sharks), dolphins, turtles, mantas.
