  • Big pelagics, sharks, mantas, channels, pinnacles, and colourful coral gardens. Divers will be astonished by the variety of marine life. From nudibranchs and eels, through schools of reef fish, eagle rays, sharks and turtles to manta rays and whale sharks.

DAY 2 - 7

  • Within the Maldives, the Central Atolls preside over the country’s dive scene. This area’s underwater treasures were the first-discovered and remain some of the best-loved. You can find everything here whale sharks, reef sharks, mantas, coral, swarms of fish, and macro-critters Maldives North Male Atoll is perhaps the best known and most explored Atoll of Maldives due to its proximity to Male International Airport and thus its accessibility. Its location also makes it an ideal starting point for diving cruises. Still a place to be discovered in Maldives, especially for its shipwrecks (some of which are amongst the most exciting in the Maldives), its famous “Manta Point” and its several “Thilas” (Dhivehi name given to pinnacle reefs). North Male Atoll offers fantastic underwater sceneries and all types of marine species, ranging from the most colorful to the most impressive ones The atoll is known to be an ideal spot to dive with large species such as sharks and manta rays, which are at the top of the list. In South Malè Reef and drift diving, very few wrecks You can spot Hammerheads, grey reef sharks, white tip reef sharks, eagle rays, manta rays, turtles, frogfish, triggerfish, surgeonfish, jacks, trevallies, snappers, napoleon wrasse, barracudas... the list is almost endless!
  • Vaavu Atoll is more isolated and less-developed in terms of tourist infrastructure, but at the same time is known to be one of the best sites with great snorkeling and diving. Another particularity that makes this atoll different from others is that instead of thilas (pinnacles), Vaavu Atoll mainly consists of kandus (channels) that are well-suited for diving. One of the most famous dive sites in Vaavu Atoll is Fotteyo Kandu, a channel with many caves and large overhangs, which is often referred to as one of the world's top dive sites. Another must-see diving spot here is Fushi Kandu, which has magnificent colorful coral blocks and many reef sharks in its waters. Miyaru Kandu, which is also a site for shark visits, consists of caves and fields of black and bizarre whip wire corals. In contrast to many other dive sites, night diving at Alimathaa Kandu (another site in Vaavu Atoll), is full of interesting and easy-to-spot fauna. Ari is considered the atoll most open to tourism and this is thanks in no small part to the high quality of the scuba diving. Manta Rays elegantly swim through the warm clear waters surrounding the many tranquil atolls and islands. With waters packed full of life and plenty of large pelagic species it is one of the most exciting places in the underwater world to dive. Hammerhead sharks, manta rays and other pelagic fish are more commonly encountered around Ari Atoll and even the mighty whale shark regularly puts in appearances, especially in its marine protected areas.
  • Baa Atoll is home to the famous Hanifaru Lagoon where huge numbers Manta Rays and Whale Sharks congregate to mass feed! Huge schools of fish compete with adorable honeycomb morays for attention. There are mantas and turtles on some dives and a lovely little wreck or two. Dives tend to be on small, undersea mounds – called thilas – with many caverns and overhangs that are plastered with pretty, pastel soft corals. The dives are colourful and the fish use the caverns for shelter. Smaller critters seen regularly include frogfish and lobsters, popcorn and mantis shrimp and some pretty nudibranchs.
